Gauja NP started a project „Back to nature”

At the end of March Gauja NP Foundation in the Estonian - Latvian program started a project "Back to nature". Project is made in cooperation with the Gauja NP Administration employees, Ķemeru NP Administration, Tartu Environmental Education Center (TEEC), Estonia Environment Board and Peipsi Cross-Border Cooperation Center (CTC).

The goal of this project is to improve the monitoring of protected areas and educate the broader society about environmental issues. The project involves wide variety of public education activities with the aim to promote public knowledge and understanding of wetlands.

During the project it is planned to establish an interactive exhibition and a key-book on wetland values in Gauja ancient river valley as well as work sheets, an informative CD about bats and various other methodological materials about wetland topic. During the project various events will be organized, like Water Day and joint works. Also youth environmental researching camps and workshops will be organized.

The Cross-Border Cooperation Program aims to promote the area of sustainable development and economic competitiveness, ensuring a coherent approach to economic, social and environmental development in a way that it involve local people and communities who benefit from it.
